The SSI Assistant Instructor Trainer Course at Wanderlust Dive Center Bonaire is designed for experienced SSI Open Water Instructors who want to elevate their teaching career, mentor new professionals, and step into the world of instructor development.

This course is conducted simultaneously with our Instructor Training Course (ITC) — giving you the rare opportunity to train alongside real instructor candidates under direct supervision of our SSI Instructor Trainer Stephan.
You’ll gain hands-on experience in teaching methodology, evaluation techniques, and leadership coaching while actively participating in a live instructor development program.

By the end of the course, you’ll not only understand how to teach instructors — you’ll have already done it.

Course Structure

• Conducted over the same 10-day period as the ITC
• Integrated academic sessions and practical co-teaching
• Workshops on evaluation, feedback, and leadership
• Live mentoring of ITC candidates during presentations & skill circuits
• Individual coaching and professional development planning

You’ll receive direct feedback, participate in instructor evaluations, and work side by side with the Instructor Trainer — gaining unique, real-world mentoring experience that simply can’t be replicated in a classroom alone.

Requirements

To enroll, you must:

• Be an active-status SSI Open Water Instructor (or higher)
• Have demonstrated consistent adherence to SSI standards
• Be ready to mentor and assist during live ITC training sessions
